Devices Policy

Last updated: 8 April 2025

Third-party device policy for laptops, desktops, and mobile devices to get the best AnyInspect experience.

Overview

AnyInspect (Helveton Limited trading as AnyInspect.ai) works with a wide range of device manufacturers. Our platform consists of a web dashboard and a mobile field app, each with its own device requirements.

Web Dashboard (Desktop & Laptop)

The AnyInspect web dashboard at app.anyinspect.ai runs on all modern web browsers. We recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari for the best experience. The dashboard is used for managing inspections, reviewing AI-generated reports, scheduling, invoicing, and team administration.

Minimum Browser Requirements

  • Google Chrome 90 or later (recommended)
  • Microsoft Edge 90 or later
  • Mozilla Firefox 90 or later
  • Safari 15 or later

JavaScript must be enabled. We recommend a minimum screen resolution of 1280×720 for optimal use of the dashboard, calendar, and map views.

Mobile App (Field Inspections)

The AnyInspect mobile app is built with React Native and Expo, and is available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The app is designed for field inspectors who record building walkthroughs and capture inspection evidence on-site.

The mobile app relies on several device capabilities to function correctly:

  • Camera — for recording video walkthroughs and capturing photos of inspection items, defects, and building features
  • Microphone — for recording audio narration during inspections, which is transcribed by our AI pipeline
  • GPS / Location Services — for geotagging inspections and associating evidence with specific building locations
  • Local Storage — for offline data caching, allowing inspectors to continue working without an internet connection and sync when connectivity returns

iOS

  • Minimum iOS version: 16.0 (most iOS devices released in the last 6–7 years support this version)
  • While all features will work on all devices that support iOS 16, we recommend iPhones with larger screens (or iPads) if you plan to review reports, photos, or inspection details extensively in the field
  • We recommend purchasing devices released in the past 3 years to ensure your device works with AnyInspect for the foreseeable future and provides adequate performance for video recording and AI-assisted processing
  • Minimum 64 GB of storage is recommended to accommodate video recordings, photos, and offline inspection data

Android

  • Minimum Android version: Android 10.0 (released September 2019)
  • We recommend purchasing devices released in the past 3 years, with 6"+ screens, 64 GB+ storage, and 4 GB+ RAM
  • We recommend purchasing mid-to-high-end devices to provide the best AnyInspect experience, particularly for battery life during long inspection sessions, screen responsiveness when navigating reports, and processing power for video recording
  • Avoid phones with significantly curved edges — inspectors in the field typically report these phones as being difficult to work with due to accidentally registering touches on the curved edge while handling the device during walkthroughs

Device Permissions

When you first open the AnyInspect mobile app, you will be prompted to grant the following permissions. All permissions are required for the app to function as intended:

  • Camera — required for recording video walkthroughs and capturing photos
  • Microphone — required for audio recording during inspections
  • Location — required for geotagging inspections and building locations
  • Storage / Media — required for saving inspection data, photos, and recordings for offline access
  • Notifications — recommended for receiving updates on inspection assignments and AI processing status

Network & Connectivity

AnyInspect is designed with an offline-first architecture. The mobile app will queue inspections, photos, and recordings locally when no internet connection is available, and automatically sync all data when connectivity is restored. However, the following features require an active internet connection:

  • Initial login and authentication
  • Downloading new inspection assignments and building data
  • Uploading recordings for AI transcription and analysis
  • Generating and downloading PDF reports
  • Real-time sync of inspection status updates

We recommend a stable Wi-Fi or 4G/5G connection for uploading video recordings, as files can be large depending on inspection duration.

Recommended Devices

While AnyInspect works on any device meeting the minimum requirements above, the following device categories are popular among our inspection teams:

iOS

  • iPhone 13 or later
  • iPhone SE (3rd generation) or later
  • iPad (9th generation) or later for office-based review

Android

  • Samsung Galaxy A54 / A55 or later
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 or later
  • Google Pixel 7 or later

Accessories

For the best inspection recording experience, we recommend the following accessories:

  • Protective case — a rugged or drop-resistant case is highly recommended for use on construction sites and during building walkthroughs
  • Screen protector — to protect against scratches and impacts in the field
  • Portable battery pack — video recording can drain battery quickly; a portable charger ensures you can complete full-day inspections without interruption
  • Lanyard or hand strap — to prevent accidental drops while recording walkthroughs on ladders, roofs, or in confined spaces
